Default 89 Marathon, preventive maintainance question...

First off....this site is awesome!!!

My story so far:

My aunt gave me an 89 marathon. The cart is in great shape. It had set in her garage for about 6 years without being run at all. I cleaned up the carb, pulled the gas tank drained and cleaned it, replaced the fuel pump(non-functioning), put in all new the fuel lines and filters. Put in a new plug and it started right up and runs like a champ!!!! I bought new tires and an ecomomy lift kit for it, and have started down the path of "golf cart addiction".

My question about maintainance...what kind of preventive maintainance should I do, if any? Are there parts (things) on this cart that are likely to fail that should be replaced? Or just go with it and fix when necessary?

We are going to use it primarily for cruising old logging trails/2 tracks around our cabin, and I want to minimize the chance of a mechanical failure happening while we are out motoring around with the grand kids.

Thanks in advance...

Blair

Welcome!! As far as Maintainence,The basics are key.Spark-Plug,Air-Filter,Fuel-Filter,Oil-Filter(if 2-stroke).The belt is good for a long-time,Just look at it for wear/damage.Grease the front-axle parts(spindles,tie-rods,etc..)Repack the front wheel-bearings.Check the oil in the rear-axle.You can do the maintainence once a year under average to heavy use,or every 2 if used lightly.Hope this helps.
