1999 ezgo workhorse 4-stroke

The cart idles perfect. No spitting and sputtering or nothing. When you press the gas pedal the engine does not rev up. U can hear it trying to but won't. I checked linkeage and it is working fine. The govenor is opening also. Just won't rev up at all. Anyone had this problem?

tell us more about how the cart gets treated, ruff or babied, does it sit alot, or is it used every day;


1 - how long has the cart been sitting?

2 - has anybody worked on it lately?

3 - check your spark plugs to see if there firing and clean?

4 - and you need to do a compression test and tell us the numbers

5 - are you sure it getting fuel, and there's NO water in the fuel?

6 - when is the last time the carb was cleaned?

and if you do get it to rev up DON'T hold it wide open with no load on it.

I rode it on and off for over an hour on Saturday with no problem. I unloaded it off of the trailer on Sunday, drove it from back yard to front, shut it down, loaded two trash cans, started it and it wont rev up. It has been running perfect for months.
