Engine Casting Crack
This crack does not go thru, so I think it might be a casting defect. Does this look typical?

Re: Engine Casting Crack
It may be a casting mark when sand cast so YES it could be BUT to insure it is a casting mark if you have a propane torch heat the area on the out side then look at the inside and see if you see any signs of oil or an appearing crack if not you'll be ok. It's an easy check because sometimes you won't see the crack until heated and it will open up. Been welding aluminum for 35 yrs.
