77' Marathon cylinder
i have a 77 marathon 2 cycle 244 engine with scarring and cracked rings i bought the .050 over piston and took the cylinder to a shop to get bored and they couldn't get the scarring out of the cylinder. my question is is there a larger piston i could try? or does anyone know where i can get a new cylinder? i was told the 88 and down piston would work but not the 88 and down cylnder?

Re: 77' Marathon cylinder
you can still buy a new top end kit with piston, rings & cylinder complete.
then maybe sell the piston you have. there about $180 though (not cheap) good luck, Dew |

Re: 77' Marathon cylinder
i would have about 100 in the .050 and the bore so i guess 180 isn't so bad to start fresh with a standard bore size. do you happen to know where i could get the top end kit i have had trouble finding it.

Re: 77' Marathon cylinder
I rebuilt the top end of my 77. I used a new cylinder for an early 80's cart. They are identical. If you search my username, you should come across a post that has pictures of my rebuild.
