Default 77' Marathon cylinder

i have a 77 marathon 2 cycle 244 engine with scarring and cracked rings i bought the .050 over piston and took the cylinder to a shop to get bored and they couldn't get the scarring out of the cylinder. my question is is there a larger piston i could try? or does anyone know where i can get a new cylinder? i was told the 88 and down piston would work but not the 88 and down cylnder?

you can still buy a new top end kit with piston, rings & cylinder complete.
then maybe sell the piston you have.
there about $180 though (not cheap)

good luck, Dew

i would have about 100 in the .050 and the bore so i guess 180 isn't so bad to start fresh with a standard bore size. do you happen to know where i could get the top end kit i have had trouble finding it.

golfcarcatalog.com has alot of the old ezgo stuff.
i've used them for my cart many times and there reliable.
(shipping can be alittle slow, but always got the right stuff)

good luck, Dew

I rebuilt the top end of my 77. I used a new cylinder for an early 80's cart. They are identical. If you search my username, you should come across a post that has pictures of my rebuild.
