Default 2007 YDRE stops running but can make it run

So because I own a golfcart my sister in law asked me to fix hers.

Complaint: cant get charger to work!

Fix: Added water to batteries, took off and cleaned and inspected battery cables. Threw each battery on a real battery charger each for 45 mins.

Tested charger and charger kicks on great. Well took for a test run and it flew out the garage and down the driveway and then seemed to lose alittle power and then nothing at the foot pedal and it clicked and nothing. popped the seat open threw in tow mode for a second and then back to run with the key on. I heard a click and put my foot in it again and went 5ft and it clicked and nothing. again flipped the seat and did the tow for a second then back to run and it clicked again and went another 5ft and died. i dont get it. if it clicks and dies i have nothing, no reverse alarm no nothing but if its running its fine. if i want to go 5 ft at a time i just need to flip it to tow and back and it will go.

any help would be very much appreciated.

Sounds like controller is detecting a fault and shutting down.

I am having a similar problem.

2012 YDRE push the accelerator pedal and it drives good until I push the pedal 1/3-1/2 way down. Any further and the cart dies.
Let pedal up and depress again drives fine until 1/3-1/2 pedal push.
If I don’t push the pedal any further than 1/3-1/2 it drives fine.

These are both battery/low voltage related issues.

So, what were the voltages at the controller at the time of shut down? (Both of you)

I’m not sure. How do I check that? I have a voltage meter connected to the batteries. Voltage never went below 43.5 even when climbing hills. Always 50-51 after a charge.
I do have the Plowmans Riot Kit installed.
Until now I have zero issues.
Thanks for your replies and help.

So after checking things over again today i said screw it im taking the controller off. key was off and i was taking the back seat off and kind of rocked the machine while doing so and kept hearing the solenoid kicking in and out. made sure key was off and indeed it was. put it in tow mode and rocked it and nothing. back into run and rocked it and same thing. solenoid clicked on and then off. back to tow and again nothing. idk whats going on now.. lol

I would say bad batteries. I’ve seen the problem with several G29s. If the voltage goes under a certain amount the controller shuts down. Flipping it to tow just restarts the controller but doesn’t fix the problem.
