Exclamation yamaha gas cart

Got a gas yamaha cart. Periodically the battery goes dead and the cart won't run. Charge the battery and it will run for a period. Getting only 9 volts from the gen/starter, but the gen/starter appears to be good, no broken wires or anything. Can not figure why it only put out 9+ volts, won't put enough power in the battery?
Thanks
Ray

It sounds like the voltage regulator, you need 13- 13-1/2 volts to charge a battery.

At this point I would take to a rebuilder and have it tested. Some one else may jump in with an idea. Good luck.

Ray is the 9 volts with the battery charged or when it is low and maybe affecting your reading?

Just trying to get the starter/gen to product enough volts to store in battery..funny every time I rev it up the volts go up....now the reading from the starter/gen is 10.18.....
