IIRC it is made by valvoline so can't be all bad....I mean I have a stock motor yet anyway with its blistering 10hp...but I think the superior heat resistance of synthetic is most important plus I don't worry about changing it as often. Most splash lawn equipment is every 25 hours, though I forget what the manual says for carts. The heat resistance should help to keep the carbon buildup down, I'm just guessing while it may lubricate better at 10hp that is not helping you that much for power.

But I run synthetic in all my lawn equipment if I can get it in the proper weight. One takes 15-40 and I can't find that. For the small cost it lasts longer and lubricates better, takes heat better (air cooled engine can get hot), and should make it last longer due to less wear. Sometimes I just add some stp to thicken it up if the engine keeps burning a lot, because synthetic will burn out in an old engine faster than normal oil. Cart is getting tired but it does not smoke or burn any oil. So I don't really use it for the power increase it has a lot of other positive attributes. With a cart that takes 1qt, you are talking what $2 more? Might as well.

Rotella makes a 15w-40. We use it in all our diesel equipment.

There are some good "generic" synthetic oils that are quality products...Carts only hold 1.5 quarts.....
