Rebuilt engine still backfires after rebuild.
Rebuilt the engine on my 1997 G16. Replaced all gaskets, carb spacer, carb jets, exhaust gasket, filter and spark plug. My cart still backfires. Only does it after the cart comes to a complete stop. Its not nearly as bad as before the rebuild, but still bothers me. Is it possible for the muffler to be clogged up and not letting the exhaust out? Any advice on what to do now?

Re: Rebuilt engine still backfires after rebuild.
I would look for a plugged muffler, timing off, lean idle mix, something else making it run hot.

How can I fix a plugged muffer? Can it be cleaned out? Will an air compressor work?

Re: Rebuilt engine still backfires after rebuild.
you can shove stuff in the holes and if lucky the plug is there and it will fall out, if not then you have to cut the muffler apart where they put it together. First I would determine if it is plugged using compressed air or something.
