Default Clutch trouble

I have a 2000 Club Car DS and there is something wrong and Im not sure what the problem is?

The clutch engages fine on start and take off but when I let off and slow down the cart jerks bad the clutch sticks and lets go and stick and lets go till the cart slows down and stops.

It started after i drove down a real bad wet and muddy road

Could it be dirty?

Can you anyone help me?

Do you know which clutch is at fault? Off the top of my head I'd slide the belt off and try pushing the drive clutch face in and out. Sounds like it may have trouble disengaging. Also check the surfaces where the belts ride to make sure there's nothing to get hung up on.

I may be way off base but I'd check the brakes.
I have a 2001 and travel on some mean dirt road and mud. I've ended up with some mud stuck in places holding the pivot for the brake pedal and/or sticking up the cable and linkage at times.
