'97 Carryall II

The designation on my tires is 205/50-10. I'm assuming these are 10" tires, the wheels were changed by a PO.

Our property is hilly and if the grass is wet the tires just spin when attempting to climb a hill. The tires look like a standard turf tread and I'm assuming that a more aggressive tread will help my hill climbing ability.

In addition to getting some confirmation/comments on my assumptions above, I wonder if I would have to install a lift kit in order to use tires with a more aggressive tread? How much lift would be required? Also, if I do have to install a lift kit what is the conventional wisdom on putting it on the rear only?

You have a low profile tire on a 10" rim. What would have been stock was an 8" rim with an 18x8.50 turf saver(more grip) or conventional tread tire. If the cart isn't lifted already, which I'll assume it isn't, you'll need to go back to an 8" rim. Unless you can find a low profile turf tire.

I'd bet you have a Carlisle tour max on there. If you're having to buy tires anyway, I'd consult the nearest golf car distributor.

OK thanks. So if I need to lift it, what's the disadvantage of just lifting the rear? I'm thinking (hoping) that only a small lift (3"?) will be needed.

There are actually alot of choices in an 18" tall tire.The ATV Flat-Trackers and TT-Riders use 18" tires.They have Knobbies,Turf,Mud-Tread,and Paddles.8" rim is more common on the 18" tire,but there should be some stuff in 10" too.Check places like Dennis Kirk under their ATV-Section.Or just do a search for ATV Tires.As others said,Yes,you can lift the rear,it will just sit high compared to the front.You can buy a 3" lift kit for about $250-$300 for a Club-Car.Check with our Site-Sponsors.Hope this helps.
