2011 precedent bucking / surging
I have a 2011 precedent, good batteries and charge. Just got it but it doesn't go very fast. I just ordered a new magnet fro revolution golf cars but haven't received it yet. I'm noticing a "bucking" or "surging" when driving at a constant speed. takes off strong but then slows to 8-10 mph then the bucking starts. I did the push test I've read about to test the speed sensor, and it appears to be ok. Any suggestions on what to try next? Thanks

Re: 2011 precedent bucking / surging
It sounds like a speed sensor going bad, specially if it is an Excel cart (PH serial number).
Disconnect the speed sensor 3 pin connector and drive the cart. It should not allow it to go faster than 8mph, but it should not buck once it reaches the limit. Flip the tow/run switch to TOW before unplugging and re-plugging the speed sensor. |

Re: 2011 precedent bucking / surging
Keith, your magnet should be there tomorrow.
It sounds like you may have other issues that need to be resolved before you can gain any speed from the magnet. Usually a bucking like you describe is caused by a bad throttle signal from the MCOR. They get corrosion on the internals over time and can't maintain a steady throttle. Another possibility is the battery pack. If you've got one or more batteries that is dropping low on voltage while you drive the car it will cause the symptoms you describe. |
