Default Is This Carryall Worth Fixing

Hello Gassers, I need some help. I've been trying to find a fixer up gasser to build a yard cart for my father in law. I can buy this Carryall for $300.00. I know the engine is no good.
Alot of parts were robbed off it. Needs shift assm., accelerator linkage, starter and mount, among other things.
It's also missing bed and seat. I would likely build them.
I know less than nothing about gassers, I can barely keep my sparky running.
I know what I'll spend on an engine, but I don't know about the rest, I really don't know what is missing and how much it will cost to replace missing parts.
What's ya'll's thoughts on this, is it worth messing with?
As always your help is greatly appreciated.

IDK. This is a call you will have to make. Engine bad, all the other stuff missing. Can't tell from photos about the rest of the cart. All depends on how much time and money you are willing to put in it. Either way, for project or parts, I would say it is worth $300.

In my opinion, with rusted clutches and a bad engine, it's not worth $300.
Now if you want to big block it, then just maybe.
What year is it? Is it a 295 or 350 engine?

I'm thinking I saw 295. It's a 1995.
Rusted clutches, does that mean they're bad as well ?
Gas carts are rare around here, I've been looking for any gasser for 3 months.
I've not been able to find anything for less than 3K.
I figured I'd buy a junker and fix it.
If I big block it, will I still need starter bracket?
I'm going to have to source missing parts online.
Are used parts common?

Well if it's a 95 that's even better..
You can run the cart off the big block swap engines starter for now.
The clutch on that engine is probably no good with the rust on that shaft.
A new comet is $250 and better for an engine swap.
The rear clutch may be no good also but I'd check it first.
I'd try to get the dart cheaper than $300

1995 Carryall II should be the FE350 Kawasaki engine, to have one rebuilt professionally is around $600 provided yours is in good enough shape to be used as a core ... The clutches are a maybe, I've seen some pretty nasty looking clutches that still worked fine but if Yours don't be ready to spend a few hundred minimum, the exhaust appears to be gone, thats another $300 or so unless You go Big Block, starter, shifter, etc ... Yeah, You're looking at a parts cart with potential that's going to eat up some serious cash IMHO.

To Big Block it You're at $1350 for the full kit, another $120 or so for the starter/generator, You can generally find the shift assembly used fairly cheap and the linkage isn't a big deal as the BB kit bypasses the rear end altogether - probably a $1600-1700 deal providing your driven clutch is OK, if not you're closer to $2k.

Seats (new) are available from M2 Seats at around $225 shipped for nice 2-tone style, add about $60 for the armrests ... Call it $300

The Bed, that's entirely dependent on what You do to fab up a new one.

Bottom line, to resurrect it as a fire-breathing VegasCarts 25hp Big Block i would call it safely accomplished at around $2200 minus the bed. To have it rebuilt with all stock 11hp parts, probably $1600-1700 buying new parts, maybe a bit less with used. Keep in mind that the seatbacks attach to the bed on Carryall 2's, so you'll have to design that into the bed You come up with, there will also be a few "here and there" hassles along the way (that's the nature of rebuilding older carts, LOL) ... You're definitely looking at devoting some time and effort however You go.

I figure I'll end up at around $3.5K with BB, tires, lift, bed and seats.
I can live with that, I don't know if my father in law can.
Thanks for your input.
Back to the sparky side for now.

I think you can do the BB cheaper than that since it's going to be a project.
If you get a 13 hp engine that has a starter and a higher output alt it'll save some money.
But cheaper means building, modding stuff yourself.
Now clutch wise, I'd take the rear one off and see if it's salvageable the drive clutch may need a puller.

Sure it's a 1995? That rear transaxle looks like a 1997+ unitized model. Which would make it a clockwise-spinning axle, which is not desirable for most motor swaps.
