93 carryall-I drive issues
Hello everyone, I am new to the forum and new to carts. I recently acquired a 93 carryall and have been working on it for the past few weeks. Mainly just undoing the previous owners mess. Anyhow, I finally got it to start, but I am having some issues when I try to actually drive it.
So, when I place the cart in maintenance mode the engine seems to go through the rpm's nicely and I can see both clutches moving as I press on the throttle. Then when taken off maintance mode and I put the cart in forward the engine seems to struggle to stay on and even at WOT it kinda just crawls along and eventually reaches maybe 5 mph. Being new to carts and all, this has me puzzled and any help would be appreciated. Things I have done: Replaced all micro switches Cleaned out fuel tank New fuel lines and filters New fuel pulse pump New spark plug New battery New carb Changed rear end gear oil Reset governor arm(as per online instructions) Again, any help would be awesome! Thanks! -Rod |

Sounds like when you sit and put a load on it the battery can't handle it. You said it has a new battery so that is strange. I'm not sure, but some club car guys will give you more info

Thanks, I hadn't considered the battery, it's new but it's a standard car battery, would that be a problem? I went with a cheap car battery because that's what was I it when I got it .

what happens when you manually open the trottle plate by hand? Do you have the governor adjusted right????

Re: 93 carryall-I drive issues
I haven't tried manually opening the throttle in Forward, just in maintenance mode in neutral. The way I adjusted the governor was by loosening the arm, pulling on the carb side until the carb was WOT and while holding that turning the center shaft in the same direction which was counter clock wise.

Loosen the governor arm and try driving.

Re: 93 carryall-I drive issues
Ok, I finally had some time to mess with the cart, and after loosening the governor arm I got a little more speed, it takes off a little better but lacks torque. The cart struggles with even the slightest incline. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Also ran into another issue, oil is getting sucked trough the valve cover breather tube and blown out the carb. I haven't done an oil change but the oil level looks to be ok. Thanks again for the help! |
