Default 99 CC Carryall Gas- Drive Clutch/Belt Not Engaging

Golf cart has been stored for the winter.

When I give the pedal gas it starts to idle and just keeps turning the small/narrow belt but it never engages the Drive Clutch Belt (the fat/wide belt) to actually move the golf cart.

I used to need to just give a little choke to the cart when it did this but it hasn't helped thus far.

Any suggestions on what to try/do?

I checked that the Fuel is coming out the line into the carb. The Air is good, the spark is good, so I removed the carb and it didn't look too bad but I sprayed carb cleaner anyway and tried firing the carryall up and still did NOT go past idle.

I had a small amount of Sea Foam Spray that goes directly into the throttle housing to clean things that way. So I tried it. While I was spraying the Seafoam the Cart would fire up BUT ONLY while I was spraying SeaFoam. And then it would die back down to just idling.

Any help please:-)

It sounds like the main jet is plugged!
*Remove the carb again,
*Remove the bowl from the carb body,
*Remove the tiny pin holding the float on,

(this is where you have to be VERY careful)

*VERY gently remove the float WITH the needle valve and spring, (they're connected, and if you stretch or damage the spring, you'll need to buy a new carb.)
*If you look in the base of the carb body, you'll see the main jet (#6), it unscrews with a flat blade screw driver.
(I can't remember if the main nozzle (#14) came out with the jet when I changed mine, but that would need a good cleaning also!)

*Then reassemble. (again... being VERY careful with the float/needle valve/spring.)

Getting closer....thank you Lock.

I took it apart again and cleaned the main jet like you said.
Now it will startup but you have to choke it everytime you let of the pedal to a stop.

How/what do I adjust now? I rarely had to use the choke over the past few years.

Is this a simple fix?

Also, #12 on the diagram looked pretty rusted inside the bowl. Is this just a vent? It was screwed completely tightened into the bowl.

Do I dare mess with 9, 13 or 15?

Thanks again:-) appreciate it!

Definitely pull 13 out and clean the holes that's the idle circuit with explains the choke to start

#12 is the bowl drain... 2 or 3 turns out will drain the fuel from the bowl,
it should be in and tight, but, no need to worry about it now!

Don't worry about #9 and #15... (#15 won't come out anyway unless you break the stop tab off!)

and as SU said... #13 is the pilot jet, it's a good idea to take that out and clean it also!
(there's a hole in the bottom, and 2 on either side of it!)

It might be a good idea to start using Seafoam mixed in your gas from now on,
It's a cleaner/stabilizer, and will help keep your carb from getting gummed up with Ethanol!

Awesome, thanks guys. Maybe after lunch i'll go back out and mess with the pilot jet. Is there a certain way it needs to be set once its screwed back in?

I have used Seafoam regularly with this cart and our other cart. This cart has sat about 6 months or so I'd say at least. But never trouble like this before.

I took quite a few laps around the neighborhood. Trying to burn the rest of the tank off. I shouldn't burn every last drop of fuel right? Or should I ?

And then I ll go get some fresh stuff maybe ethanol free.

No adjustment with the pilot jet... in and tight!

It won't hurt anything if you use up the remaining gas, unless you have a bunch of gunk in your gas tank!
(OR... your a mile away from where your fresh fuel is... and you have to walk back!)

You're right on the money today:-)

Pilot jet cleaned and bammo no choke needed.

You guys got any suggestions for cleanin up the engine area? I know theres a lot of the rust but I think some of the other stuff is cleanable. Just not sure the best way to attack it.

Once the engine cools a good pressure wash be ok? And anything to use on it to spruce it up after the pressure wash?

Thanks!!!

Get a spray can of engine degreaser local parts store should have it and use power washer to clean it off just try to avoid directly blasting electronic parts
