Can some one with a Carryall please measure the tilt bed prop rod for me? I can't find a replacement and need to fab one. Thank you.

Be careful. I'd want to confirm that the person measuring for you has the same bed length. These Carryalls came in a few different bed lengths, and I'm not sure the prop rod would be the same length between them. No personal experience myself with these rods, just a thought.

Thanks Springbok, I had not considered that. I'll look into it some more. I do know the buggy I'm picking up today is what was referred to by the owner of the buggy shop as "the long bed".

My Carryall II has a 49" overall length and the support rod measures 12 3/4" center to center on the end bends. Hope this helps.

Thanks carguybill and texastbone. I traded for this one today and the prop rod is missing. I'm going to try and make one being I just can't bring myself to pay $60.00 plus shipping.

carguybill, does the rod appear to be close to 3/8? I'm thinking of some all thread to make one. Thank you.

I will measure the diameter of the rod tomorrow. I would not recommend using all thread, not only would I favor a smooth outside surface but I'd also be concerned that it would be too soft and therefore not strong enough.

My recommendation is to find a local metal supply company and discuss with them your application and have them suggest a rod material for the job. My guess is that they would be able to do the two bends for you also.

That's a lot of weight,
Every time i lift my bed i think about it slamming down on my head, i don't think all thread is the answer on this one.

OK, I measured it and it is, indeed, 3/8" diameter. Also, I noticed, but failed to mention before, that there is a push nut on the top end. Mine has nothing on the lower end.
