Re: Club car primary clutch... engine clutch
So this is my thinking. I am thinking harbor freight 13 hp or the 22 hp engine. Now on ebay they have comet clutch sets. Set up for go carts and the like. Is there any chance this is something someone has done? I have seen some talk on here about the HF engines being used, and I did do a search (maybe I didn't type it in right) but nothing came up. I would like to do something a bit better then stock and this for me is budget wise affordable.

Re: Club car primary clutch... engine clutch
It there any chance a 88 carryall clutch would fit? Just thought I would ask. I found 1 kinda cheap.

Just saw you are in Upstate NY. Where abouts? I'm in Utica
Since it seemed like no one else mentioned it, that 2 stroke engine is out of an 80s EZGO cart. Just an FYI |

Re: Club car primary clutch... engine clutch
I kinda thought that is what it was. I think the clutch might have worked IF it wasn't so darn long. It wont fit between the motor and frame :-( ALL the clutches I have found are seriously expensive!! I can't get over it. It would actually be cheaper to buy a different engine, primary clutch and drive clutch to fit. I could get a Harbor Freight 13 hp engine and a clutch system cheaper than the clutch itself. Unless I am looking in the wrong place.

Re: Club car primary clutch... engine clutch
I believe the '88 Carryalls had the same motors and clutches as the DS carts, so it should work.

Re: Club car primary clutch... engine clutch
What would the bolt size be for the primary clutch? It is missing. Could I get 1 from the hardware store or does it need to be a special 1? Also could someone identify the engine if I post a couple pics?

Re: Club car primary clutch... engine clutch
Yeah that's your standard 1984-1991 KF82 flathead motor. Also known as the FZ340 or 341cc.
The long clutch bolt is #16 in the diagram, and can be bought from the website below (warning, the price of the bolt will look good...until they add shipping): https://golfcartpartsdirect.com/Category/52 The clutch bolt is the same for both the old and new style clutches. |
