Axle Twist
'96 Club car brakes are grabbing and bouncing back when I hit the brakes. It looks like the Axle did twist some but I'm not sure. The forward edge of the bottom plate that the U-Bolt goes through is lower than the rear. The gap is bigger in the front than in the back. The bottom plate is welded to the axle. How can I fix it? Thanks in advance.

Is this cart lifted or stock? Have you checked the tightness of the u-bolts? |

Re: Axle Twist
It is lifted. Yes, They weren't real loose but like I said the gap in the front is greater then the gap in the back (of the upper and lower brackets). So I am assuming the axle (which is welded to the lower bracket) Twisted forward a bit and tightened the Brake cables. I'm just wondering that if I loosen the U-bolts can I rotate the axle back to where the two brackets are evenly spaced? What's the easiest way to rotate the Axle?

Re: Axle Twist
Yes, loosen the u-bolts on each side, then tighten things back up. Everything should line up nicely as you tighten the u-bolts. Do your leaf springs have centering bolts installed?

Re: Axle Twist
Do you have a single or double U-Bolts on each side. I remember something about the single U-Bolt lifts having an occasional axle twist situation under the right conditions.
If single U-Bolt, One of our sponsors used to build a kit to convert it to a double U-Bolt. I'd assume that he still does. |

I recently installed a $20 trailer U-bolt kit and with some grinding/drilling/cutting it fit right in. |

Re: Axle Twist
Yes, there are lift kits out there with single U-Bolts on each side of the axle. I have seen them.
