Default Greasing the clutch??

I have a 97 G16. I have heard that it is good idea to keep the clutch greased. I started to try to grease the rear clutch and had to go get a new gun with flexible hose as it is tough to get to. Once it got the gun on the fitting I could not get grease to go into the clutch. Everything just mushroomed out of the connection. I imagine I need a new fitting or clean the fitting but what is an easy way to get a tool in there to remove that thing. I am no expert on working on these things but my clutch seems noisy so I want to make sure I get it greased. The front clutch allowed me to give it 2 pumps and then it started doing the same thing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Swap out the fittings. You can get them at any parts store. You can also get just the flexible hose for your grease gun without having to buy the whole gun. I would also remove the cover on the front clutch and clean it out and then hand grease every moving part. If your bushing on the rear sheave is caked up and not allowing grease to flow to it, you will need to remove it as well and clean it and regrease.

It doesn't take much grease once you get the zerk to work correctly! One pump, maybe two and that's all you need. Exsessive grease will just fling all over you and the engine compartment

I keep pumping until it starts coming out the sides. That way I know everything gets plenty. Plus the added weight in the drive clutch helps with torque.

I'm just kidding and don't do this!!

To much is just a little more than you need, just like a lot of things in life.

1/4" drive set, Use deepwell socket and I (think) 5/16
Might help to pick up a spray can of gunk engine degreaser and clean it up first so no dirt goes in the hole when you remove it.
Easier for me standing on passenger side so I don't have to work looking over the driven assy.

I just did mine yesterday, its easy, from the back, lay on the ground, put the cart in neutral, you can reach up under and turn the clutch til you see the zert, if you leave the gun straight you can grease it real easy, if the zert wont take grease, I have on many times, gust take a match, or lighter, if you heat up the zert, just a little, it will free it up.... good luck;; this post is so old, but what the '
