pops after golng down hill

I have a long hill in my yard and when I let off the gas and coast down the hill and then give it gas again it pops. I know that as its coasting the engine is still turning and pulling fuel into the engine. So then when I give it gas again my spark comes back causing it to pop. It doesnt do it every time, just once in a while. Is this normal and does it hurt anything?

May be that the throttle is not closing completely when the gas peddle is released could try adjusting the throttle cable

I should have been more specific. It is a 88 with a 2 stroke.

I adjusted the throttle cable and that seemed to help. Still pops a little but not as much or loud as it was. This cart runs great since I did a top end kit on it, runs a lot better than the sparky I had.

Even with the cable adjustment you still need to check the throttle stop screw on the carb.
sounds like it is still holding the throttle open.
Back the stop screw out a couple of turns to get it away from the throttle arm and then make sure the arm (butterfly) is closing 100%.
Then screw the stop screw back in until it just touches the arm.
