Default 2010 Club Car Precedent Brake Lights Not Working

I just bought a 2010 Club Car Precedent Champions Edition. It has an aftermarket light kit with lights, turn signals and horn. Everything works except the brake lights. Horn works, front and rear lights work, turn signal works, but no brake lights. Does anyone have any idea where a newbie like me should start problem shooting this? Also, I just checked and the lights work even when the cart key is turned off. Is there a way I can rewire this so the lights only work when the cart is on?

its possible the brakelight switch is bad.....should be a switch mounted under the pedal....................as for rewiring yes there should be a way.......but is it something you yourself can do?...........its gonna involve tapping into the keyswitch ..........................................

Did you check to make sure that the cart came with the correct bulb?

I'm thinking whoever wired this thing didn't know what they were doing. I noticed tonight that the blinkers only work when the headlights and taillights are not on. When the lights are on, no blinking. Does anyone have any ideas or is it better to pull it out and start from scratch?

Don't know which light kit you may have, but the attached file may help you diagnose your issues:

Thanks Steve but I think that kit is for a DS model. I appreciate the help though.

Did the brake lights work when you bot the golf cart?

You can start for checking the brake light switch and timer under the floor boards. You should have several wires under the floor board. Be patient to take up the floor. Floor mat first. Then see what you have. The switch could have come loose.

I'll take a peek tomorrow and see whats under the floor boards. Honestly, I am not sure if the brake lights worked or not. I checked the head and tail lights and turn signals but I don't remember if I checked the brakes. I know it was foolish not to, but I was so excited to get the car at a good price I forgot some things. Either way I am sure It can't be too hard to fix once I figure out the problem.

I removed the floor mats and checked the brake light switch and it was not hooked up. I made the connections and the brake lights now work. The turn signals and flasher still don't work. I have head lights, tail lights and brake lights. Any one have any idea where I should look now? The lighting kit looks like the Precedent ultimate lighting kits you see on the web.
