Re: 2000 txt ezgo running slow
FYI DCS stock controllers are easy to damage if you run the batteries to low. That may also explain the slugish behavior.

Re: 2000 txt ezgo running slow
Set the cart to charge so tomorrow I'll test the batteries etc. In the meantime I checked the controller and it's a Curtis 73144g06, which is rated for 36v 300amps, which I assume is ok for that motor. Is there a way to test that controller to make sure it's working ok?

Controller damage is accumulative, you might want to look into upgrading. You can't tell how bad the controller is until something goes wrong. The DCS controllers burnt up easily, that's why production only lasted 3 years before the PDS replaced it. Here are some options for your controller.

Re: 2000 txt ezgo running slow
There's a local dealer selling a reman dcs controller for $150. Do the reman ones also have issues or are the issues only with the original ones? Just trying to justify dropping $400+ on a controller knowing I will eventually sell this cart in the hopes of moving to a 6 seater,

Quote:
Remanufactured is a fancy way of saying "The burnt out components on the inside were replaced and the outside was cleaned and repainted." Some remanufacturers are better than others and some of the controllers they rebuild are just as good, if not better, than the original, but even with the highest quality repair parts and workmanship, a DCS controller is still a "sow's ear" rather than a "silk purse". Research the DCS controller issues, take into consideration that you have a motor that is more demanding than the stock DCS motor and make an informed decision. |

Re: 2000 txt ezgo running slow
If your controller works there wouldn't be a point in replacing it with the same unit. If you plan on selling the cart soon don't be dumping more money into it, you'll never get the money back out of it unless your current controller is bad. If the current controller is bad I would go with an upgrade one from scottyb, It will really give that cart the full performance package. A high speed controller and motor will add to the resale value, but if you already have working components you'll never get the full amount back. If your controller is the reason your cart is running slow, I'd order the 400 amp alltrax from scotty.

Re: 2000 txt ezgo running slow
Checked the batteries this morning, after an all-night charge.
Pack Voltage is 38.3 and the batteries are 6.4, 6.4, 6.0, 6.5, 6.5 and 6.1. I'm going to let them cool down all day and check the voltage again tonight. |

Re: 2000 txt ezgo running slow
Checked the batteries and thought I solved it, but NOPE.
After 12 hours the Pack Voltage was 33.6 and the batteries were 5.5, 6.2, 5.9, 6.2, 6.1 and 3.4. So i replaced the 5.5 and 3.4. Took the cart out for a spin and I'm faster in reverse then forward. Forward seems to have higher torque at pedal half pressed then full pressed. Full press sounds like a hum with no real forward speed. I'm charging the batteries again and will check them to see if the one registered at 5.9 drops or holds. Any suggestions? |
