Re: So I'm searching for a new charger.......
I like the idea of an on-board charger also, but I realize that most of the time I do not need it to be on-board. The new one is small enough to fit under the drivers butt, so if I need to transport it a long distance I can put it there. then have it to charge at my destination.

Does the 48V version have a float charge or does it go into a monitor mode and initiate a charge when the battery voltage drops too low? |

I believe the 36v and 48v are the same. But I honestly don't know the answer to that.

After being bounced around in the cart for a while, it only lasted about a week with daily use. Being an old school type, I decided if it didn't have a transformer, I didn't want to mess with it. The DPI has a transformer and uses SCRs to control the constant current and constant voltage phases, so it appears to be the best of old and new combined. (More correctly, it has current limited and voltage limited phases, but that's a technicality.) I still want to have on-board charger so I can "Refuel" away from home, so the Quick Charge might be what I'm looking for. |

JohnnieB, did you ever decide on a on-board charger? I am starting to look into it and need a water resistants / bumpy road worthy one.
Thanks! |

I like the concept of having an on-board charger, but a stand-alone charger is better suited to my needs, so I use the DPI Accusense. |
