The battery post had a stamp on it where Scotty figured out the age of the battery. You can just replace the effected one but it's more symptomatic that all the cables are at a similar state and you should probably replace them all. Not that anyone here wants you to just go spending your money all willy-nilly but your issue will most likely happen again if the cable is to blame.
There was a large resistance at that point and it was either the internals of the battery, the connection of the cable to the battery or the crimp of the cable end on the battery going south. It will happen again until fixed. If your battery is still good, just not pretty, you can use the stud connection and continue to use that specific battery. |

Trojan's website has torque requirements, but they are inch-pounds, not foot-pounds.
I try and check water levels, clean, and check cable tightness every month or so. |
