Rebuilding a Club Car (for a change)
I picked up a project cart the other day. I have lifted a few Club Cars for other people, but never more than just bolt ons. This one looks to be a 2005/2006 DS that is in need of some 'updating'. I will know more when I get the body off to look at the controller as the weather here has been so bad I haven't even been able to unload it. Here are a couple before pics:
cc1.jpgcc2.jpgcc3.jpg I know it is going to need some batteries (will hold a charge for almost 5 minutes, haha), paint, seat covers, lights, and tires and wheels. The front body has a crack in it and will need to be replaced, so if you have one let me know. I do have a question before I get started. I found a deal on some 12" wheels with 215/40/12 tires and wheels. I don't want them to get away from me, but don't want them to rub. Any thoughts?? |

Looks like a project. I would think the diameter of the wheel/tires would be OK but I am not a CC guy. I would think that offset would be the issue.

I had 12 inch wheels with low profile tires and they did not have any issues, Precedent a different matter.

Simple Green and a Magic Eraser will do wonders on a white cart. Not so good on a dark cart..

Depending on the offset that tire should fit... If not a shim here or there will give you a bit more clearance..

Re: Rebuilding a Club Car (for a change)
I run that SIZE tire on my EZGO, but this one is a different brand and the wheels are different so I am still unsure. If the weather cooperates, I am going to roll this one out of the trailer and get started as well as swapping the fronts off of my cart to see if I have any rubs. I REALLY hate to miss out on this deal and may grab them anyway for the next build, but they would look so good on this cart with what I have in mind.

Re: Rebuilding a Club Car (for a change)
I have finally had a chance to get 'started' on this project. I have ordered several parts and pieces, but really wanted to get busy. I rolled her out and stripped her down. I ran out of light before I was able to get the batteries/electronics out or the pressure washer out, but did get the body off so that the paint can be done. I figured out it is an IQ cart. All looks good mechanically, just needs some freshening up. This is going to make a really nice cart.
project4.jpgproject5.jpg The front body on this cart is cracked and I was able to find a nice used one (free!!), I have some new batteries on the way, heavy duty cables, lights, and some low profile tires and wheels. I will update as I make progress. |

Working outside in January. Awesome! We don't get that luxury around Chi-town in January.
Can't wait to see how it turns out. |
