Default Broken Steering

the other day i was driving around in my marathon when my right front tire popped(it was on its last leg i knew it was comming) after i replaced the tire i tried to drive it and realized it will no longer turn left. it turns right without issues but when i turn the steering wheel left it keeps turning but not catching on anything so now its abandoned at the local sommunity center for the past 3 weeks. does anyone know how i can fix this problem? THANKS! :)

I'd start by checking to see if the rack has broken or been knocked off center.

The rack is the long strip with teeth that the pinion gear slides back and forth in the steering box. If there is a bunch of it hanging out when the wheels are pointed straight ahead, it is off center. Since it will turn one way and not the other, my guess is that a couple of teeth have broken off it creating a dead spot. If it is in two or more pieces, it is broken. If you don't feel up to the task of dismantling the steering box yourself, replacements can usually be found on eBay.

So, are all your tie rods intact? If the input is being received but not transmitted, the problem is inside the steering box. Is the swing arm functioning properly? Jack the front end up, ratchet strap the steering wheel in place and push the tires to see what is giving.

Often just the center or 'home' teeth are broken off the rack. By hand start the wheels towards the left then try to turn further with the steering wheel. If it works until you come across center again then the rack is missing a tooth or 2.

There is a knuckle on the end of the rack too.... Get a helper to turn the wheel while you inspect the should be moving parts to see where the problem is.

i just double checked everything with the steering wheel off. it looks like the bigger gear thats in the boxmoves down a little when i turn the wheel left causing there to be too much space between the gear and the rack so it doesnt catch. i also inspected the gears and rack and everything is intact and to correct my earlier post the rack isnt moving at all when i turn the steering wheel left. anyone know how i can fix the spacing issue??

I think it's time for a new rack and steering gear.
