I have a 8.5 Hyundai that runs good, doesn't smoke but when I let off the gas it backfires??? Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Back fire
I could only guess, the throttle plate is not closing all the way, when you let off the throttle pedal. And/or air filter box leaking, drawing more air than motor is jetted for, or exhaust leak.
