I never heard of one blowing the case either, but we are getting up to 25yr old with them, and mine had the original engine untouched until 2yr ago. That with me running it with no governor for a dozen years lol. Given it was mostly only weekend use we did do some trail riding up to 6hrs a day at times. Mine didn't even knock but the rings are gone for sure it smoked, then people run them out of oil. Mine never used a drop until it started to smoke.
