Exclamation yamaha G1 golf cart 1985 model, won't move!

hi,

i have a yamaha G1 1985 golf cart. its fuel and it was running well about a week ago. we have tried to fix it in many ways. we changed the spark plug for a new one, we got a new air filter and fuel filter, we also cleaned out the fuel tank replaced it with new fuel and cleaned the carburettor.

the cart starts and runs well but it just won't move, even when my foot is to the floor. we think it could be the clutch plate is what isn't working on the cart. when the cart starts the plate should clamp onto the belt and then drive. however it just stays there in idle.

all help is appreciated, thanks again and please help

If it revs up, but the clutch won't engage, pull the cover off the primary clutch and check for a stuck weight.

The big pulley on the engine is the primary clutch, also called the "drive clutch".

The pulley on the axle is the secondary clutch, also called the "driven clutch".

Both work together to give a CVT drive system "Constant Velocity Transmission". These are the legs of the golf cart, the engine is the heart. Now that you have the heart pumping, let's get the legs working.

Put the rear up on jack stands, put blocks in front and behind the front wheels for safety. Start and run the engine, watch the belts....do they move? If not, you will have to remove the drive clutch to check it out.

The primary or drive clutch is the one on the engine.
