Yamaha G16 missing when cold.
My G16 misses when starting, it takes forever to start unless I block off the carb, then it chokes enough to start but misses for quite a while until it warms up. I have a new spark pllug, fuel filter, ran carb cleaner through it and its 80 degrees here in AZ so its not the weather. I think its running lean. Is there an adjustment to make it run richer or leaner? If not, is there anything I shoulld be llooking at? Thanks, Billy

Re: Yamaha G16 missing when cold.
Are you using the stock air box? It needs to be sealed tight for it to run correctly.

Yes, I have the stock original air box with a new filter, very tight seal.

Re: Yamaha G16 missing when cold.
one thing you can try,,,,,, it sounds like you are not getting gas,,, the fuel pump is a vacuum drive system. there is a hose at the fuel pump that goes to the top of the engine block, that's the vacuum line,, they will plug; the way to clean is real simple, take the hose off at the pump,, then unscrew the oil filler cap, now blow through the hose, if its plugged you will know,, also a compressed can of air will work, I have seen some so bad, after removing hose at engine had to pry gunk loose........ sounds like this could be your prob. not pumping fuel properly.. good luck;

I will try that, thanks, Billy Its running a bit better since sealing up the air box and stuffing the muffler but every little bit helps. Have a good one, Billy

Re: Yamaha G16 missing when cold.
Have you considered that, with the lift, the carb is now sitting at a pretty good angle, when it was intended to sit level.

Re: Yamaha G16 missing when cold.
No matter the angle should still take the same amount of oil. Dont overfill the oil.
