Voltage drains away
After tooling around camp for a few minutes, my TXT abruptly went dead. The ammeter needle went from well into the green to zero in a flash. After pushing it back to our site, I connected the charger, which had so recently showed a full charge, and it also went to zero. After unplugging and waiting for a few minutes, the dash ammeter crept back up into the green, so I pushed the accelerator. It went to zero again.
The batteries all read the proper 6 amps, but the circuit read only 12, at first, then inched up to 30. Still, the cycle of failure repeated itself. The battery cables and the speed controller were all replaced last summer. Does this sound familiar to anyone? |

Re: Voltage drains away
Hi Jim,
Welcome to BGW! Buggies Gone Wild has the smartest and most informed members and venders on the web. I think you are using the term amp and ammeter incorrectly. Amps are the volume of electric force and volts are the potential of the electric force. It sounds like you are referring to volts as amps. If thats the case your batteries are dead, and most likely not recoverable. |

Re: Voltage drains away
Have you checked the water/electrolyte level of your batteries?

Re: Voltage drains away
It may also be a simple corrosion issue on one of the main cables or the shorter jumpers causing them to not making good contact.

Re: Voltage drains away
I would check connectiins. Sounds like possibly a bad one...but more likely bad batteries.

Re: Voltage drains away
Are you saying that the cart drove fine yesterday and today you have this? Or are you saying the cart drove fine last summer and now you have this? If it is the later, were the batteries on a trickle charge during the winter? If not, the guys are right. (Batteries)
If it drove good yesterday, it could be a lot of things. |
