Default short fault on XCT controler

I installed the XCT 500PDS and D&D 502.1 on my 36V EZGO a few months back and all worked very well until a couple months ago when the cart completely stopped on me and haven't been able to use it since. all the batteries ar good with a total voltage reading of 37.6 volts. the solenoid clicks then throws a red then green light. any idea whats going on?

So far during troubleshooting I've found pack voltage at both the small terminals on the solenoid while not pressing the pedal. This is abnormal correct?

No I think that is normal. Controller grounds one terminal to energize the solenoid. Check the Alltrax website and get the error codes. If you connect your PC to it you can find the errors in a heartbeat.

Since you have a new motor, the short is probably between the A1 and A2 cables or the F1 and F2 cables (IE: Worn insulation were cables are routed around the battery box - See attached picture.)

Pack voltage on both small solenoid terminals is normal if the keyswitch is ON and either F or R is selected on the F/R switch and the pedal is not pushed.

The voltage you see on the blue wire is coming through the solenoid coil. when the pedal is pushed, the controller connect the blue wire to B-, completing the solenoid activation circuit and the solenoid should click.

Thanks for the help. I've been out of town for the past couple days. I'll be able to get back to work on this when I get back. Your response is greatly appreciated!

After contacting alltrax and troubleshooting with Ron, we have found a bad motor. This is a D&D 502.1 high torque motor. Purchased from carts unlimited in September. Carts been down for a couple months. So after 7 months the motors out. Not exactly what I wanted to find out!

That is highly unusual! Motors usually go many years without failing unless they are abused.

I didn't think it was the motor. Like you said they normally last a long while. I've only used this buggy to travel to hunting spots on private property. Climbing moderate hills and creeping slow through fields. That's why I purchased the high torque motor and didn't go for speed.
