Let's talk Voltage Reducers

I haven't found a lot of research on voltage reducers. The basic ones offered by the various vendors appear to be overpriced.

So I started doing some research and found this on Alibaba (supplier to many US companies):

Any thoughts on why we haven't seen any of the aliexpress style reducers make its way to the main cart vendors?

One of the things you should be aware of is this type of converter is setup to be always on unless you add a relay or solenoid to switch the 48v power on and off from the key...can be done but extra money...plus if the unit fails or is defective the chances are slim you won't get any help. Think about buying from one of the site sponsors like ScottyB or TahoeDawg...you will be much happier.😃

I buy alot of reducers for various carts, and I will say although that madjax one you showed is pretty heavy duty and well made, I don't like it because of the mounting holes.

They are half circles, not closed circles, so i try to stay from it away for
that reason.

Most of the carts I install reducers on, I can use 20 amp ones. If they have an air top then i go to 30 amp. This is a golf community for seniors, so not alot of bells and whistles, very few radios etc.

The reducers you can buy thru the site sponsors will be fine. i did buy from overseas in the past, and I did have to go back and replace a couple so I stay way from alibaba etc.

If you are just looking for a one off for a personal cart, don't forget Ebay as an option this is where I found the Curtis 1400E for my RXV priced for under $60 new in distressed box. Good solid name brand, and built in France.

So should a switch be installed on the (+) wire from the battery to the reducer, so that its not "always on" and draining the battery?
