Question Question about the 89 ezgo electric motor? And need diagram

I have a 89 ezgo electric cart and was wondering how much power and torque you can get out of the motor with upgraded parts? Im doing a custom build and have a cart laying around. So im trying to debate if I wanna go with electric or gas.

Also I was wondering if anyone has a wiring diagram for the 89 ezgo?

in its current configuration....is it a RESISTOR cart or a Solid State cart? the wiring diagrams are different....but can be found in the sticky's at the top of this section.

either way....its a SERIES cart. when you say POWER and TORQUE...well in reality, they are the same thing....or did you mean to say SPEED and Torque? you can do a lot to increase Torque....but a series cart will not go any faster, unless you either change to a high speed motor, change the gears in the dif., go to 48v, or a combo of 2 or 3 if the choices.

Yes I mean speed and torque my bad. How do you tell the difference between resistor or solid state?

LEFT up your seat....and with camera/phone in hand, take a good, clear picture of the battery compartment. the absolute best picture would be one taken from this vantage point, like this person did. It would make it easier to just take the seat off and lay it to the side.

btw.....that's a pic of a resistor cart battery compartment.

well if it doesn't have a drive system in it.....you can make it anything you want then!!

next question just out of curiosity....is the motor parallel or perpendicular to the differential?

I just set the motor in there but here is how everything ise to be laid out. You can see where the batteries use to be.

With this in mind, what are your intentions with this cart? as in how do you intend to use it? neighborhood cruiser? off-road (hunting cart)? and what are your goals for its intended use. with that kind of info the group can suggest a lot of different combo's that can/will accomplish your wants/needs. Another thing that goes along with that is your skill level when it comes to fabrication (customizing the set-up). Or are you just wanting to be able to just do standard bolt up replacement of stuff?

well that settles it.....if those pictures are if your cart ( I assume they are).....that's a solid state cart....we car see the controller there in the picture. so it looks like you have most of all of the bits and pieces.

I have my build im doing with it in a couple different threads. On is in big block talk and another is in the on the road threads. Im building a custom car thats set up alot like a golf cart. So im taking the read end of the golf cart and fabricating it into the new frame. Its mostly going to be lawn or road driven. Not really taking it off roading at all. I am decent with fabricating but I do have some buddies that are good at it so either way would work out.
