Re: Marathon burns up solenoid again and again
So, the manufacturers code indicates a '94 but the serial no. indicates a '97 electric Medalist. From the picture I can see where the cart could be a medalist or a TXT or a combination of the chassis/body but I don't see any Marathon DNA at all.
Of course non of this has anything to do with your problem except the wiring should be looked at from a series perspective I think. |

Re: Marathon burns up solenoid again and again
Those batteries look pretty old and they are the 1800 series which have a shorter life span. What is the pack voltage at rest and what is it while driving?
Extremely low pack voltage could have been killing the stock EZGO solenoids. |

Re: Marathon burns up solenoid again and again
rabbitreborn - The batteries are getting a little up there in age but they are supposed to have a couple of years left. Needless to say she had both mechanics that she took it to test the batteries and they said they were fine. I have not checked them myself but I will this weekend to be on the safe side.
crash test dummy - I am trying to get a 3 amp diode here as soon as possible. As for your other questions, the red wire on the main pack negative runs to a bus bar I installed for good ground connections for lights and other accessories on the cart. The red wire from B- controller stud is running to the negative on the bottom of the Reversing contactor. That's how it is shown in the wiring diagram for the reversing contactor. |

Re: Marathon burns up solenoid again and again
I normally do as well. Just happen to be given the roll of red and didn't have any black at the time.

Re: Marathon burns up solenoid again and again
Could it be a bad throttle sensor? I opened the panel to check the micro switch to see if it was working and I see this pictures below. It looks like the inside of the sensor has melted.

Re: Marathon burns up solenoid again and again
I thought the same thing but don't know why epoxy would be in there.
