Have lifted cart at a campground with a lot of hills, need more speed.
Got a good deal over the winter on a nice 2000 ezgo electric cart. It has 23" off road tires that dont drive well on pavement. Cart also is slow on hills. New t-605 batteries. I believe it has a 6" lift. If I were to drop down to a 19.5" street tire, would that drive alright being it has such a significant lift? Also would it look ridiculous? Can I expect to open up much on hills? I know I can buy a controller and eventually will but for now, I just want to drive with tires that are suitable for pavement. If this is a problem, is there an easy way to reduce or remove the lift back to stock height? Thanks in advance.

Re: Have lifted cart at a campground with a lot of hills, need more speed.
seeing as how your drive system is stock, and its been lifted and has larger tires on it.....YES, by reducing the tire diameter you will get back the torque you lost with the larger tires.
YES it may look silly....seeing as how you can easily run up to 20" street tires on a NON-LIFTED cart. Easy way to reduce/remove the lift.....the rear is easy, the front, it all depends on what type of lift was done. is it a drop axel lift? a spindle lift? or an a-arm lift? |

Yes drive system is pretty stock. It has plum quicks cheapest motor upgrade. I'm away from the cart until Friday so i couldnt tell what kind of lift nor do I know what I'm looking for. Are any of those lifts easy to remove and are any able to be removed without having any stock parts that may have been removed during installation?

well either way....if you don't have the original parts, you would be needing to buy a new front axle and possibly spindles....depending what you have.
the other option you have is to upgrade your drive system (electronics) such that you can supply the motor with more power (amps) to get you up the hills. |
