Default Stock EZ GO speed questions

Hi everyone-

I have a 1998 EZ GO TXT with a series drive system. The cart goes about 16-17 MPH on the road with the stock wheels. It feels pretty fast for a stock cart.

Is there any kind of “freedom mode” or different speed codes for the non- PDS TXTs?

There is a “freedom” decal from the factory on the side of the cart, but I think that’s just something EZ GO did. I had a Marathon with that decal once.

I guess I’m just wondering if this is the maximum speed I can expect, and what the “freedom” means.

Thanks-
Luke

I think there was 2 motors offered. Fleet and Freedom. Freedom was faster.
I think factory lights came with the freedom mode.

Thank you. I’ve always wondered what the freedom meant. The three “freedom” carts I’ve seen have had factory lights.

What speed upgrades are available? Obviously an Alltrax controller, new motor, and 2 AWG cables... but there’s no speed code upgrades for the series controller?

No "chips" or other super easy speed upgrades. You already have the "better" motor. "Freedom" on the side means had faster motor & light equipment (but keep in mind, bodies are generally easily swapped, happens often). Kinda like Yamaha factory equipped as a PTV. Some marathons were available as "Freedom" model too. Same deal, faster motor & factory lights. Factory "high speed" motor responds well to 48v.

That’s what I’ll do- 48v. It’s got 2011 Trojans still going strong but they won’t last forever.

Thank you!
