Default 36v motor replacement

I have a 2003 ezgo txt golf cart and have issue with batteries draining quickly. Two of the batteries are 2 weeks old and other 4 are less than a year old. Only thing I can think of is the old motor is drawing to many amps and a new motor replacement doesn't look very hard????

Can I use any 36v motor for an ezgo? can someone send me a link to one I could use?

You can't use any 36V motor. You have to use a series wound motor in this cart. A PDS motor uses a completely different drive system and regenerative braking which a series cart (yours) does not have.

Is this the same cart referenced in this thread? http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ng-long-5.html

IMO you have a battery issue you haven't solved yet. Reduced range is far more often a symptom of weak batteries than a motor problem. Lot of variables but the price of a new motor can be a good chunk of what a new battery pack would cost. I'm speaking of true golf cart batteries.

it is the same cart. I see motors for about $450 and look fairly easy to install. Im thinking the motor is old and drawing too many amps.

As far as the batteries my "golf cart guy" replaced two of the batteries that the lights drained down so I have two brand new batteries and 4 that are less than a year old.

I see the Admiral B1 as low as $415 online, There are probably a lot of good used motors available too based upon the sales for the B1 upgrade.

To be sure about the battery age, check the date code.
There is a code etched in the case by the negative post as shown in the picture. In the code is manufacture date. Here's how to read it: http://www.golfcarthotrod.com/1229/c...ate-year-made/
If you bought them new they should still be under warranty.

The two with lights hooked to them were replaced under warranty and others tested ok
