Trailer hitch help
Good morning, I just bought a 2003 TXT and would like to install a receiver hitch on it. Not sure what brand rear seat kit it on it and don't know where to look if it is marked or if it matters.
I have some pictures from under the rear step on my phone that I'll get on here ASAP. I would think the hitch would connect to the step in some manner but I'm not even sure about that, i'd like to buy the correct one the first go-round. Thanks as always, ivel |

Re: Trailer hitch help
ivel.....the first question I would have before making any recommendations is how you are going to use is.....as in how much LOAD (the size/weight) of the trailer you plan pulling with your cart.
if you are talking about using a fairly light trailer (total weight of about 1000# or less) The set up Crash suggested would be great (you can find them on amazon) if you need something heavier, I personally would have one that actually connected directly to the frame....even if I had to have it made. but that's me. |

Re: Trailer hitch help
This is what I got for mine. I feel better having the hitch bolted to the cart frame.

Re: Trailer hitch help
I made my own with some 1/4” aluminum I had. I mounted it to the frame and step and it really stiffened up the step up.

Re: Trailer hitch help
I added a trailer hitch to my cart, the thread is here:
http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ater-cart.html I'm 245 and I stood on the hitch ball and bounced up/down as hard as I could, no funny sounds or other issues. So I've been using it ever since. Biggest load I have is a Christmas float which sometimes has 14 people on it, so it weighs a bit, but it's on flat pavement too so that helps. no idea the tongue weight but it's certainly weighs more than a few pounds. I added more square tube and took it back to the large, thick flat piece of metal that runs under the bag well. I didn't want to put a lot of trust in the rear seat foot rest, which a lot of receivers appear to do. |
