Default DPI Gen III / Interstate/Costco Charge Mode?

I have 48 volt charger DPI 1-48017-04 and six 8 volt Interstate/Costco batteries. Looking for charging mode recommendation. Back of charger states these modes:
1. US Battery
2. Trojan
3. Exide
4. FullRvr

I searched this forum and found some suggesting mode 3, others mode 1 and even a couple suggesting mode 2.

I would think your best bet would be to email DPI and ask them

ACUTALLY.....I have a 3 Gen DPI charger and when I bought a new set of INTERSTATE batteries (the pack before the one I have now) it was simple, I CALLED INTERSTATE BATTERY and they told me to use MODE 1, the algorithm for US BATTERIES.

That's interesting...I would think since US Batteries have a slightly higher charge voltage they would be in a league of their own along with AGMs. I figured most golf cart batteries would be along the lines of Trojan's specs, considering the Ah are similar unless specified by DPI's profiles.

all I can say is that's what they told me.....and when I upgraded to 48v, the batteries were still performing like new, 5 years later.

Both DPI and Interstate replied to use Mode II, the Trojan setting. Here are the replies:

David,

So this is our Gen III model with only 4 modes to select from. We would recommend mode 2 for the flooded Trojans, so a jumper at the very top and very bottom sets of pins. This is what we recommend for most flooded lead acid type batteries that aren’t specifically listed.

Thanks,

Hi,

I have charger model 1-48017-04.

Can you recommend charging mode for six, 8 volt Interstate/Costco Golf cart batteries?

-------------------

Thank you for contacting us.

That battery is a Trojan battery.

Hope this helps.

Deb

must be the fact that you have the Interstate/Costco batteries.....I had straight up Interstate 2200's.....must have made the difference.

but you did the right thing......called Interstate. Just like I did nearly 6 years ago. things change
