Default 2009 EZGO RVX gear change

Just installed 10.5 gears on a stock RVX, now the motor gets hot and slows down, and you can smell either electrical or brakes, not sure, the motor gets hot on the speed sensor side of the motor.....

Gears can do that, if you intentionally "punish" a Rxv with gears, you can put it into "motor temp cutback" in about 20 minutes (I tried it). Bit the stink sounds like a motor brake problem. 2 separate issues. This is why I love the 2012.5 & newer Curtis RXVs, no gears needed, gears actually make them worse.

Besides going back to stock gears is there a fix for this problem?

Do the conversion to a Curtis controller. And get rid of the high speed gears.

Doing the conversion, does it require a motor change as Well?
