Default Re: Battery question again, mine are shot

I should just stay out of the CC forum. But I know US batteries charge higher than all others. Didn't know CC chargers didn't need to be set to US batteries

I was unaware that US Batteries required a higher SOC nor was I aware that I could change the settings on my charger. I thought that the on board computer controlled the SOC.

If there are adjustments that I need to make, please educate me.

Your Powerdrive will take the charge voltage as high as ~65-67 volts when topping off. Then ~12 hours later you will see the true "At Rest" voltage.

If there is a smart charger in use, it would as you stated. But the "Dumb" chargers like the OEM Powerdrive just has the algorithm from the OBC and no way to change it or modify it. It is mainly generic, but with each later version (revision) covered more manufacturers. OBC will do the job, but not as efficiently or well as a smart charger.

Thanks to all of you guys. I have been well schooled in maintaining batteries. I'd bet that I've been through the "Everything to do with Batteries sticky" more than 20 times through the yrs.
I'm happy to hear that my PD3 will suffice.
