G2 or G16 which is a better engine?

I bought a yamaha gas cart and I think it has a g16 engine not a 100% is the g16 better than the g2 and how do I make sure what engine I have? My number is JN6-0087 48

Thanks Essness. I didn't know that G16 was a engine type too till today. New to this stuff I will catch on soon. I paid 500 for it but needs a rebuild was that a good deal? Also do you know what the dia. of the cylinder is on that engine (stander) so I can buy the right ring or bore it over a little and put a better cam in it....

$500.00 and a rebuild

Yep, I would have bought it.

I dont know the answer to the standard dia. question, but someone should be along that will.
If it were me, my engine was bad and I only had $500.00 in it, I would be talking to Tom at CCP about a Briggs 18hp big block. You can drop these in the Yamis without having to lift it.

Another option is to call J&M and swap out your core for a rebuilt.

I must be missing something here. You have a G16 (jn6) engine in a G2?

dont know exact mm of piston. but there is a 25mm overbore and 50mm over or might be .25mm over bore etc?.rebuild is around 316$ if you need new valves in such and there isnt a core swap with cpp it's real easy.fast to tom built or rebuilt my engine in 1 day

g16 is a 15cc bigger motor then the g2.
