Yamaha rear lift /shock extender
I came across this on E bay and he has this 2.5"shock extender for g2-g9 as well as G16 carts .Cost is under $30. I have a g16 and want to put 20" rear tires on and keep the 18" on the front. Is this somthing that is done or will the cart run bad .Will this 2.5" shock extender provide enought for 20"x8x8 rear tires.
Thanks Richard |

Re: Yamaha rear lift /shock extender
You can fit 20" lawn type tires on it stock, 20x10-8 in rear 20x8 front unless you space them out then 10 wide seems to fit. But if you put an ATV type tire on with big tread I'd say get the shock mounts for sure. Larger tire equals more gear and more speed.

Re: Yamaha rear lift /shock extender
They will fit without a lift but might rub at times. I take it your cart does not have a lift at all? I feel it well not ride that great with the rear higher than the front but that up to you. If you go with those extenders they would need some way to keep them from piveting in and out, basicaly a cross bar or a brace going to the frame bolted or welded to prevent the side to side shifting of your shocks.

Re: Yamaha rear lift /shock extender
Agreed I would only lift the rear a minimal amount. You would be better off with a lift kit and offset wheels by far, as large an ATV tire you can fit (22-23) and work the clutch some. But you do what the budget allows.

Re: Yamaha rear lift /shock extender
I can see that the shock extenders may need something to keep them in place . Is there longer shocks that will work with my G16.Something from a snowmobile, mororcycle or ?

Re: Yamaha rear lift /shock extender
I dont see why that would not work if you can find them to fit and thay have the length your looking for. You will need to extend the sway bar mounting bracket down the length you go up.

Re: Yamaha rear lift /shock extender
think the extenders would work fine, as far as the ride goes with it beeinghigher in back...thats no problem , thats how mine is set up except I run air shocks on the rear , can jack it up or lower it down works great for me

Re: Yamaha rear lift /shock extender
I have used them on a 4 builds, they do work well if you looking for a little lift, will work with most ITP 10" wheel kits, they are very low cost, they will change the caster/camber on the front, but not to bad, work simlar to the low cost 4" kits but half the price, just make sure the top bolt is very tight and you will be good to go..hope this helps.
