Default Engine swap

Has anyone swapped a G16 into a G2 or can it be done easily? How much will I have to change? I can get a G16 engine for a great price. I will be getting the wiring harness as well as the whole engine assy.

I have read the sticky but wasn't sure about the G16 being close to the 14 or not.

I'm not sure either, maybe Dave will see this and comment. But it looks like for it to work you neeed to keep all the wiring and ignition components from the G2, swap them over to the new motor. If the motor's cheap, what do you have to lose??

The G16 engine is based on a magneto/tci coil (no ignitor) ignition system. If you can get the engine/wireharness (and all the components that plug into it)/air box/muffler and clutch, I don't see why it wouldn't work. You would need to fabricate a plate (probably welded) to the g2 cradle. My only concerns would be when mounting to alighn the clutchs, would the airbox hit the fuel tank and would the muffler be to close to the battery? In my minds eye....it should be doable. Good luck and post some pictures

Ok well I got screwed outta the motor so now the search is on for a clonda I guess. Next step is going to Harbor Freight and see what they have that will serve my purpose.
