Is this a good buy?
I am looking to get a gof cart as a hunting buggy. Im not going to use it to do any extreme off roading, mostly just your average hunting lease stuff and around the house. I have been prowling around on here a little bit and it seems that the PDS may not be the BEST way to go. The cart I am looking to buy this week is a PDS that already has some mods. Im not sure yet about the controller. I didnt know that much about it when I called the guy. I read people on here saying that the pds will be ok with a 400amp and factory motor. If I up grade the contoller I will go with the programmed 500 incase I want to upgrade the engine. IF it does have the 400 will this be good for hunting lease use? It says it has a torque chip how much difference does that make? I am posting the link to the buggy. Is this a good buy for what I am looking for? (aside from the color.hahaha)

Re: Is this a good buy?
That country looks pretty flat and you might be okay with a PDS cart but don't try to creep around for any period of time or she will heat up and eventually cook the motor... Series carts are not as easily sped up but they make much better off road carts, imho

I thought an upgrade in the controller prevented it from cooking, even at slow speeds.

Quote:
Negative The extra heat is a by product of the Separately Excited Motor (Sepex) If you run them fast and they are okay, run them slow and they cannot cool themselves fast enough. The excess heat eventually melts and weakens the epoxy that holds everything together and one day when you are flying down the road BOOM the motor comes apart... |
