reversing wheels on ds gas golf cart
I was thinking of putting some chains on my 2006 gas ds club car. It seems that clearance for the chains would be too tight. If I reverse the wheels I would gain more clearance. The tires are regular golf cart tires. Is there anything wrong with doing this? Thanks for your advice!

Re: reversing wheels on ds gas golf cart
No disrespect...
I understand that you would like to know if you can put chains on your cart during winter... AND... I also know that your other thread went "kind of" off track! http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/gas-c...golf-cart.html But, what I don't get is the "reversing the wheels" part! If your talking about turning your rims inside out to make your tires closer to the frame... no it won't work! You said that you have chains that will fit your tires perfectly, and yet, your not sure of the clearance between the tire and the body... I get that! Have you tried them to see if they will rub or not? |

Re: reversing wheels on ds gas golf cart
My cart is just a basic off the course golf cart. It is not lifted. If I put chains on the tire as is, there is a very good possibility they would hit brake lines etc. It appears that if I would reverse the tires(like I have done on my tractors) there would be adequate clearance.

Re: reversing wheels on ds gas golf cart
By reversing the tires, I would be putting them so they would be farther out of the wheel well.

I don't know if stock rims have the beveled edges for the lug nuts on the inside of the rims! |

Re: reversing wheels on ds gas golf cart
Stock cart rims are centered,no offset.Turning them around won't do anything for you, plus the wheels have a taper-seat for the lugs,so you can't flip them around.Buy a set of 2"/5" or 3"/4" offset steel-wheels for under $20 from a site-sponsor,That should get you the clearance you need.Hope this helps.
