When you say plenty of power, I am curious your levels. If you have two people in the cart how fast will it run on flat ground? How quickly will it get up there?

In Forward I have about a 1 second delay and then it takes off, real powerful until about 5 mph then it just loses acceleration and climbs up slowly.

In reverse, as soon as you hit the gas peddle it spins the tires and pavement, and climbs to top speed without hesitation.
Did you try removing the 1/2 speed reverse wire?

Is it possible the forward drag gets worse with increasing speed?

Reverse 1/2 speed not connected

Yes it could be. Small hills kill this thing. Will go from 11mph with one person to 6-7 mph. I mean small hills.

After reading the 72v or bust thread looks like he had the same powerful reverse at 48volts and not powerful forward.

Maybe I just need more power!

Hahahahaha

I also later posted that the lack of forward burn-out ability wasn't due to lack of power, just physics. When in reverse it easily turns the tires over because the wheels are "pulling" the load. In forward the wheels are "pushing" the load and it's much harder to get tire spin that way. Think of it as a front wheel drive 4 cylinder vs. a rear wheel drive 4 cylinder car.

That is one of the highest torque and HP motors they make. It is a step or two above the one I have. You should have absolutley no power problem with it especially with 48v and assuming it is getting enough amps.

Yep thats where I am at too. it's time for some new batteries. Trying to work out a deal with the dealership I got them from on taking them as trade in.

I just don't think the motor is getting the amps it needs.

I talked to D&D about that motor before going with the one I have. One thing I remember they told me is that it is a big amp hog and you really have to have good power.

I was worried about run time with it and only having 6-6v batteries so I went with my current motor and it has been great.

You may still have some brake drag or something but lack of amps may be the big problem.

When I talked with the engineer at D&D he tells me that the same motor they use in the stealth buggy and it is very efficient with a low amp to torque rating. Maybe you are remembering a different motor?

I have been known to be wrong so I went back and looked at my original email request to D&D from October 2012 just to be sure. My specific inquiry was for and ES-52-Type motor.

The guy I talked to on the phone from D&D told me the info that I posted. I don't know if it makes a difference that I have only 36v? From that conversation and his input is how I ended up going with the 170-002-0001. Actually "amp hog" was his words.

I do know that on the D&D website it says that the ES-52 requires a controller upgrade. I am not trying to give bad info I am only going off what I was told.
