Update #2, Fiance got me a Scotty B meter!!!

Got it installed on the last 2 batteries of the pack. Voltage reads 44.9, which is over the 100% SoC of 44.59. Is that a good thing?

Yes it means you are fully charged. During charge you will see very high numbers and for the first 12 -24 hours after the charge you may still see elevated levels as the pack 'settles' to what it can actually hold.

So I have a 42 volt western. I believe it is a 91 cart. It has a new set of batteries and a new controller. When the gas pedal is depressed the cart goes wide open, it doesn’t matter if it is in forward or reverse. Not sure if the ITS is bad or if the new controller has an issue. Any ideas or what to check next?
It is a Curtis controller 36-48v 500 amp. The original controller was a 370 amp but the controller did get programmed for 42 volts.

If it is a Pre-1994 EZGO chassis, it has a pot-box throttle rather than an ITS (Inductive Throttle System), so the new controller might be for the wrong throttle type.

Curtis makes (made) several 36V-48V controllers with a 500A throughput. What is the specific model number and suffix?

The cart serial # is 10003916481. The original controller Model # is 1205-211. The new controller # is 1205m 5603. Both are Curtis controllers, both are 36-48 volts. The current on the old one is 370amp which i could not find a 370amp controller, so the new one is 500amp. The new controller was supposed to be progarmmed for 42 volts before it was delivered.

Originally the cart came to me dead, the cart was diagnosed with a bad controller. Once the controller was installed the cart was returned for charging and the cart did not get fully charged due to electrical isssues in the garage. The cart was then driven with low batteries until it died. Could the controller get damaged by operating cart in this state?

The cart had a bad cell on a couple of batteries, so changed the batteries, and checked the ITS and it is working however the cart still goes top speed as soon as the pedal is depressed. There is no slow speed at all.
Because the cart is a 42 volt, when I bought the controller, it says 36-48 volt controller and I was told it had to be programmed for 42 volts. I wondering about the programming if it worked or if the controller could be defective.

Controller has 5 "throttle type" settings, I would ensure its set to correct one for your carts throttle type. The handheld programmer can be rented off the internet. The handheld would also let you monitor things like throttle %, and list any faults it knows of.

Upon emailing the seller of this controller I was encouraged to use the programmer to check the low voltage cutback rate and turn it down. Is that the same as adjusting the throttle type settings?
I’m also looking at programmers to purchase, is there one you would recommend that would do almost all programming.
