2001 TXT Ez Go Hunting Buggy Help
I am a newbe here but have been lurking for quite awhile.
I just had a local dealer build me a hunting buggy. My daughter is having some health issues and I needed a good way to get her out to her stand quietly. Anyway it is a 2001 TXT with a stock 36v motor and a new stock controller, new 4ga cables, new f/r switch. It has 20" tires on it and a 2" mid rise lift. Are there any upgrades that you guys might suggest that I need to make. Or will this be fine as is? It will be used at slow speeds and that kind of scares me with all of the posts about heat at slow speeds. Anyway thanks in advanced for all of the great advice on this forum, it is a great source of information. MK |

Not far...less than a mile for the most part. The whole farm is only 140 acres so there is not a lot of room to roam.
I forgot to mention it has all new Trojan batteries as well. |

Re: 2001 TXT Ez Go Hunting Buggy Help
I am new here too. I have an 09 TXT with the PDS control.
I have 70A with dirt roads that I drive around on and it might have been replies to one of my posts that talked about low speed and heat. I have had my cart for three months now, it is all stock, and I usually put a couple miles on of low speed, start and stop. I'd guess I run around 6mph most of the time. I have a temperature probe that I plan to hook up but I am hoping that any excess heat I generate has time to dissipate while I am stopped. Another factor might be how much weight you carry. I have carried four people about 1/2 mile out and same coming back. |

Thanks Remac!!
It will just be me and my daughter most of the time. I am a big guy but my daughter is only 15 and is not very big. From time to time during late muzzle loader season my wife will be with us so 3 people at most. But I do hope to have to haul out a deer from time to time if my daughter has any luck......and lord knows she deserves some luck right now. |

Re: 2001 TXT Ez Go Hunting Buggy Help
The stock controller is engineered for 18" tires, 2 people, + groomed pathways.
When you increase the tire size you increase the final drive gear ratio. If you put bigger tires on and add a rear seat you are adding 2 types of load to the motor, by gearing and weight. It will require more amperage to run under these conditions. The higher amperage will create more heat. If there is restriction to the higher amperage flow it will result in heat, real heat that can melt stuff and cause failure. I would upgrade to a SPM48400 and HD solenoid like what comes in our package #484 |

Re: 2001 TXT Ez Go Hunting Buggy Help
OK showing my ignorance here.......is mine a series cart?? I thought mine was a PDS cart and those were not a series cart. My FNR switch is on the dash.
I am just making sure I get the right parts once I order them. Thanks guys!! |

mkral, seeing as your F&R is on the dash, you do have a PDS cart.....and if you look at Scotty's controller section, there are kits for your cart. you would most likely be look at Pkg #808 .......its about 2/3rds of the way down the page.
OH and BTW......CONGRATS on the ride, and Welcome to our happy little corner of the net, and to BGW. There is a BIG fridge on the back porch with anything you can think of in it...help yourself...of course only take what you can LEGALLY have. Make yourself at home on one of the big fluffy couches, kick your shoes off, put your feet up on one of the tables, yes we are allowed to do that, mom's, wive's, husbands, girlfirends and boyfriends here don't care....and take it easy. oh...btw....every once in a while a food fight breaks out...so you may not want to wear nice clothes here. Welcome!! |
