FE290 Carb settings
Anyone know what the factory carb settings are for a 92' Club car with a FE290?
Thanks, Tom |

Re: FE290 Carb settings
When I run my cart wide open for 1/4-1/2 a mile it acts like its running out of gas (gradually loses power and nearly stalls). The fuel pump appears to be pumping plenty of fuel....when I pull it off the carb it runs in a steady stream and it pumps a little over a cup of fuel in a minute at idle. I pulled the carb off and cleaned it (twice) and it still didn't help. What else could it be?
It's not vacuum locking (I loosened the fuel cap and it don't help). I'm assuming its a carb/fuel delivery issue. Tom |

The manuals I have are for 03 and newer, and it tells of no adjustments for the carb., (Pilot screw / fuel mixture) but, 2 turns out should be a good start! (which you've done) 2 things to check... (If you haven't already) 1) The 2" line on your fuel pump (Impulse vent) remove it and make sure it's clear, and reinstall 2) The carburetor vent line (not sure if the 92 has one) that goes from the carb to a hole in the frame, Make sure that one is also free and clear. Then there is also the "Process of Elimination" 1) Rebuild / replace the fuel pump 2) Rebuild / replace the carburetor I wish I could help more! |

Re: FE290 Carb settings
OK Viper. Check this out. There is a clear plastic hose running from
the carb, toward the front and down to the front frame, and thru a hole in the frame, passenger side. Sometimes these get plugged up with mud or mud daubbers. Pull this hose back inside and make sure it's not stopped up. There is a little plastic thing in there to keep the hose opened. The symptoms you describe should be related to this problem. Bet you a nickle. |

Thanks for the reply.......I'll send you a mailing address for the nickel! lol I pulled the carb off again and went all thru it. When I took it for a test ride I went about a mile before it acted up at all and then it started doing the same thing......losing power like its running out of gas. In fact this time it bogged right down and then stalled. It started right up but then it didn't have enough power to move. I let off the gas and tried it again and it hesitated for a moment and came to life like it had to issues. I made it about another 1/4 mile and it started doing the same thing again. I drove home at about 1/2 throttle and it made it the whole way home but it did keep hesitating and losing power off an on. Tom |

When it acted up I pulled the spark plug and it is dry with a white/grey color....looks pretty lean like its starving for fuel. I can start it and let it idle as long as I like and it seams to run fine. I take off down the road and starts acting up. I guess tomorrow I'll start checking it for electrical issues.......but it sure seams more like a fuel problem....like I said its like its running out of gas. Tom |
